Uma das aves mais coloridas da América do Norte, pode ser encontrada também no Méxicoe região do Caribe.
É alvo de um grande comércio ilegal em algumas regiões devido às cores vistosas dos machos. Essa plumagem só aparece após o segundo ano de vida.
Nesse estudo em aquarelas, procurei uma pose mais natural, mas que mostrasse todas as lindas cores desse pássaro.

One of the most colorful birds in North America, it can also be found in Mexico and the Caribbean region.
It is the target of a large illegal trade in some regions due to the showy colors of the males. This plumage only appears after the second year of life.
In this watercolor study, I looked for a more natural pose, but one that showed all the beautiful colors of this bird.

Saíra Paraíso/ Paradise Tanager (Tangara chilensis paradisea)

 

A Saíra Paraíso é um dos pássaros mais belos das florestas da Amazônia.

Existem outras variações que são chamadas subespécies desse lindo passarinho de cerca de 12 cm.

A diferença maior entre elas é o colorido do dorso que chega do vermelho até essas misturas de amarelo e laranja.

A retratei em acrílicos sobre papel, mostrando ao fundo um galho de ficus, árvore que serve de alimento a uma enorme variedade de aves e mamíferos.

The Paradise Tanager is one of the most beautiful birds of the Amazonian forests.

There are other variations that are called subspecies of this beautiful little bird of about 12 cm.

The biggest difference between them is the color of the back that ranges from red to these mixtures of yellow and orange.

I portrayed her in acrylic on paper, showing a ficus branch in the background, a tree that serves as food for a huge variety of birds and mammals.

  Uma ave de tamanho médio da floresta de planície e contrafortes em Mindanao e ilhas vizinhas, com um bico azul claro e barbela, um rosto preto, uma coroa listrada, um dorso escuro com uma barra de asa branca e amarela, um colar branco e uma garupa e cauda avermelhadas. A parte inferior é branca na fêmea e rosada no macho. Faz pequenas saídas de uma posição empoleirada para pegar insetos. Pode ser encontrado em pares, pequenos grupos ou, às vezes, bandos de espécies mistas. Inconfundível. A voz inclui um assobio lamentoso e um “chink” metálico, além de ruído de asas e cliques de notas.

The underside is white in the female and pinkish in the male. It makes short trips from a perched position to catch insects. It can be found in pairs, small groups, or sometimes mixed-species flocks. Unmistakable. The voice includes a plaintive whistle and metallic chink, as well as wing noise and note clicks.

Papa-moscas-azul-de-Sulawesi/ Sulawesi blue Flycatcher( Cyornis omissus omissus)

 

Geralmente são coloridos e sua postura calma enquanto espera suas pequenas presas, insetos em geral, é muito característica.

Vivem pelo extrato médio das matas e áreas verdes solitário, aos pares ou acompanhando bandos mistos.

Habita as ilhas de Sulawesi, Togian e Selayar, na Indonésia.

Sua reprodução parece necessistar de mais estudos de campo.

Essa pequena ilustração em acrílico retrata a diferença entre o macho e a fêmea da spp, omissus, já que essa espécie conta com outras spps, que retratarei posteriormente.

I love this little gang of old world flycatchers!

They are usually colorful and their calm posture while waiting for their small prey, insects in general, is very characteristic.

They live in the middle extract of forests and green areas, solitary, in pairs or accompanying mixed flocks.

It inhabits the islands of Sulawesi, Togian and Selayar in Indonesia.

Its reproduction seems to need more field studies.

This small acrylic illustration depicts the difference between the male and female of the spp, omissus, as this species has other spps, which I will portray later.

Turaco de Ross/ Ross Turaco (Musophaga rossae)

Amplamente distribuído no Congo, Sul do Sudão, Uganda, W Quênia, W Tanzânia, Ruanda e Burundi para todos, N & E Angola e N Zâmbia; também populações isoladas no NE Gabão, Camarões e N República Centro-Africana, esse lindo habitante das florestas centro africanas é um deleite para os olhos!!

Alimenta-se de frutos e insetos e o nome de sua família, Musophaga, significa comedor de bananas!!!

Reproduz-se o ano todo, com pequenos intervalos, de acordo com a região onde vive, provavelmente tendo relação a oferta de alimento para os filhotes.

Widely distributed in Congo, South Sudan, Uganda, W Kenya, W Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi for all, N & E Angola and N Zambia; also isolated populations in NE Gabon, Cameroon and the N Central African Republic, this beautiful inhabitant of the Central African forests is a delight to behold!!

It feeds on fruits and insects and its family name, Musophaga, means banana eater!!!

It breeds throughout the year, with small intervals, according to the region where it lives, probably related to the supply of food for the offspring.

Bulbul de Bornéu/ Bornean Bulbul (Rubigula montis)

Um conspícuo Bulbul da ilha de Bornéu.

Chamativo e colorido, costuma elevar a pequena crista quando excitado por alguma coisa.

Sua vocalização é pouco conhecida e a gravação acima foi a melhor que achei (é a voz mais fininha na gravação) Alimenta-se de frutos e insetos que cata esvoaçando vividamente entre as árvores.

Conhecido apenas dessa linda ilha, lar de espécies incríveis e com a floresta mais antiga do planeta!!!

Seu ninho foi visto uma vez em janeiro e constava de dois pequenos ovos.

Nessa  ilustração A4 retratei o colorido comum de ambos os sexos e um indivíduo, em uma pequena aquarela se alimentado de frutos pendentes, típicos de sua região.

A conspicuous Bulbul from the island of Borneo.

Flashy and colorful, it tends to elevate the small crest when excited by something.

His vocalization is little known and the recording above was the best I could find (it's the thinnest voice in the recording) It feeds on fruits and insects that it collects, flitting vividly among the trees.

Known only for this beautiful island, home to amazing species and with the oldest forest on the planet!!!

Their nest was seen once in January and consisted of two small eggs.

In this A4 illustration I portrayed the common coloring of both sexes and an individual, in a small watercolor fed on drooping fruits, typical of their region.
